  The Morris Arboretum's Cherry Blossom Festival is held over two Saturdays in April, April 9 and April 16. On April 9 at 1 p.m., there will be an outdoor tea ceremony demonstration (chabako) conducted by instructor Drew Hanson. Other events that day include performances by the taiko drum group KyoDaiko and tours of the arboretum garden.

Have you ever wanted to learn Japanese tea ceremony? A new session of beginner's lessons at Shofuso, the Japanese House and Garden in Fairmount Park, will take students through the simplest form of tea ceremony, including instruction in basic movement techniques, tea preparation, and tea history and culture. The $100 fee covers four weekly lessons (approximately two hours per lesson).

Please join us for the 2018 Hatsugama (new year's tea ceremony) celebration on Jan. 14 (Sun).  There are two sittings: 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on the same day. The gathering will include a charcoal arrangement (sumi), a meal featuring traditional New Year's food, thick tea (koicha) and thin tea (usucha). Please note that space is limited at each sitting! On April 15 during the Sakura Sunday festival in Fairmount Park, we will be at the Sakura Pavilion (on the east end of the Horticultural Center building) demonstrating at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Demonstrations are free to watch, but for a $5 donation we will also serve you tea and sweets. Please come join us for a bowl of tea!
